FAQs

Who qualifies for nomination?

Nominated individuals should be established business leaders who have accomplished specific achievements in the business world with a strong record of innovation in their fields, outstanding performance in their businesses and a clear track record of meaningful community involvement. We’re looking for those from every industry and profession who have made a difference in their communities and are leaving a mark in the greater Lynchburg area.

Does the nominee/employer have to be local?

Yes, nominees must live in and work for a company (or be self-employed) in the greater Lynchburg area, which is defined as the City of Lynchburg and the counties of Bedford, Campbell, Amherst and Appomattox.

What is the age range for nominees?

Nominees should be between the ages of 20 and 40 as of the date of publication for the issue of Lynchburg Business Magazine in which nominees will be featured. For 2025, that date is July 1.

Are self-nominations acceptable?

Yes, you may nominate yourself.

Are nominations by family members or spouses allowed?

Yes, and in some cases, such as a small business endeavor, a family member may be the best person to nominate an individual. However, in most cases, we encourage supervisors, colleagues or others who consistently work alongside a young professional to submit a nomination to support a family member/spouse nomination.”

Can someone be nominated multiple times?

Yes. However, multiple nominations for the same person do not enhance the nominee’s chances of being selected.

What makes for a successful nomination?

Strong nominations tell a personal story of the nominee’s path to success, obstacles overcome, unique talents, etc. The adage “show, don’t tell” applies here: The best nominations are clear, short and complete while offering sufficient details and examples to illustrate the nominee’s strengths, accomplishments and contributions to the local community.
