President Alison Morrison-Shetlar, a first-generation student, is now making the dream of a college education available to all students. A Scotland native with a background in biology, President Alison (as she’s known across campus) has held a variety of roles in both public and private institutions, including professor, dean, provost, and chancellor.
Today, at the helm of “Lynchburg’s university,” President Alison is creating undeniably life-changing experiences for students through world-class programs that support the three pillars of her presidency: Leadership Development, Innovation and Collaboration, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She credits much of her success to mentors who faithfully supported her and is privileged to now provide that same culture of mentorship to students at the University of Lynchburg.
Most days, you’ll find her surrounded by students — sharing lunch, cheering them on, or celebrating their successes — and reminding them always, “It’s a great day to be a Hornet!”
