Robert O’Brian Jr. Named President of Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association Board of Directors 

LYNCHBURG, Va. July 1, 2026 The Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association (VRMCA), a trade association representing ready-mixed concrete producers and industry partners across Virginia, has announced that Robert O’Brian Jr., president and CEO of Lynchburg Ready Mix, has been named president of its board of directors for the 2026-2028 term, effective June 1, 2026. 

A Lynchburg resident and active member since 2008, O’Brian is serving his second nonconsecutive term as president.

“It’s an honor to be appointed to lead the association at such an exciting time for Virginia’s concrete industry,” said O’Brian. “As an industry, we are navigating new technologies, growing demand and a changing workforce. I look forward to continuing VRMCA’s mission of educating the next generation of concrete professionals and advocating for safe, responsible industry practices alongside my fellow board members so we can continue building Virginia strong.”

O’Brian joined the family business at Lynchburg Ready Mix and held a variety of roles within the company before assuming leadership from his father. Under O’Brian’s leadership Lynchburg Ready Mix is supplying concrete for the city’s largest capital project in state history, the Blackwater CSO Tunnel.

Also joining O’Brian as newly appointed members of the VRMCA’s board of directors executive committee are Michael Thompson as vice president and Matt Erwin as secretary/treasurer. Thompson, an area operations manager at Vulcan Materials Company, is based in Herndon, Va., and has previously served on the board. He is being appointed vice president for the first time and has been an active member of the association since 2022. Erwin, vice president at S.B. Cox Ready Mix in Richmond, Va., has also served on the board and is being appointed secretary/treasurer for the first time. He has been an active member of the association since 2018.
