You’ll find a lot more than just cakes and cookies inside the cozy basement space on Jefferson Street that’s home to Harry’s Bakery and Catering. A few months after opening their doors, the downtown eatery is now offering a savory lunch menu along with their sweet treats.

Business partners Hannah Predmore and Harry Luis Rivera met a couple of years ago and became friends, sharing a common love for the culinary arts. They later formed a partnership and opened Harry’s Bakery and Catering in July 2018.

They found their current location for sale on Craigslist; it used to be Simply Irresistible Bakery, which closed in February 2018. While the 200-year-old building has posed a few challenges here and there, Predmore and Rivera are so thankful they ended up downtown.

“We were looking to open in Forest because we both live in that area, but doors kept closing,” says Predmore. “Now, I can’t imagine us not being here. We love being a part of downtown. The community is amazing and we have such good support.”

You can stop in anytime from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to purchase desserts—from cupcakes to muffins to cake by the slice. Lunchtime guests can choose from a selection of sandwiches and wraps, made with fresh baked breads and croissants. Keep it light with a Turkey Wrap with cucumber, cream cheese, raspberry mustard and spinach or fill up on a Philly Sub with roast beef, horseradish sauce, provolone cheese, and roasted peppers and onions. Add a cup of the day’s fresh homemade soup while you’re at it.

Harry’s also offers catering for weddings and corporate business events. They will even help you out with boxed lunches for your next company meeting.

“We are a lot busier than we ever thought we would be,” says Predmore. “It’s been fantastic.”
