April Cheek-Messier— President of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation. Cheek-Messier is serving on the host committee for the Virginia Department of Veterans Services’ Virginia Women Veterans Summit June 14 and 15 in Alexandria. The summit is designed to connect the country’s female heroes with the services and benefits they’ve earned.
Ted Delaney—Appointed Director of the Lynchburg Museum System and Chief Public History Officer. Delaney comes to the position from Old City Cemetery, where he was executive director for four years. He started working at the cemetery after graduating from the University of Virginia in 2000.
Brian Hinkley—Athletic Field Manager for Liberty University. LU won the Sports Turf Managers Association’s “Field of the Year Award” for Osborne Stadium. Hinkley is responsible for maintaining the natural grass playing surface.
Turner Perrow, Jr.—Joined the Lynchburg Advisory Board of Bank of the James. Perrow is a licensed professional engineer and an Associate Principal with Woodard & Curran. He currently serves as the Ward IV representative on Lynchburg City Council and serves on multiple other city committees. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
Amanda Schmitt—Promoted to Assistant Vice President and Operations Officer at Bank of the James. Schmitt joined the bank in April 2011 as a teller and transitioned to the Operations Division in 2013. She received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Central Virginia Community College, is a recent graduate of the Virginia Bankers Association Management Development Program, and is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Lynchburg.
Ross Turner—Named Assistant Vice President and Real Estate Valuation Officer at Bank of the James. Turner joined the bank in 2011 as an Internal Appraiser and was responsible for cultivating the bank’s in-house real estate valuation process. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and received a B.A. in Economics and Commerce.
Penny Wallace—Joined Bank of the James as a Small Business Banker and Officer. Wallace brings 23 years of corporate experience to the bank, seven of which were spent in business lending. She comes to the position from First National Bank of Altavista. Wallace earned a B.S. in Business from Virginia Tech.
