Heather Alto—New Executive Director of the Central Virginia Business Coalition (CVABC).
Alto served as the membership and marketing director for the CVABC (formerly Retail Merchants Association) prior to her new role and has been working in the industry for over six years. Her vision is to increase the visibility of members in the community and continue promoting the importance of supporting local. New events in 2019 include a Women In Business series, Athena Award luncheon and a Home & Garden Showcase in early spring.

Graham Evans—Promoted to Vice President and Portfolio Manager II at Bank of the James.
Evans began his banking career as a teller in 2012 and has held positions of customer service representative and credit specialist. He is a graduate of Radford University and earned a B.S. in business. He also is a graduate of Leadership Lynchburg.

Kathy Lifsey—Promoted to Vice President at Bank of the James.
Lifsey joined the bank in March 2005. She has 30 years of banking experience in retail, mortgage, credit and compliance. Lifsey earned the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager designation in November 2016 and currently serves as Chairman of the Virginia Banker’s Association Compliance Committee. She is a graduate of Mary Washington College.

Elizabeth Mars—Named Executive Director of the Lynchburg Humane Society.
Mars, of Naperville, Illinois, has more than 20 years of experience serving pets and their owners. She most recently served as a consultant to nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Prior to that, Mars was a director of the Petco Foundation.

Tom McCabe—Honored as Outstanding Chief Legal Officer of the Year by the Association of Corporate Counsel.
McCabe moved to Lynchburg in July 2018 to become senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary for BWX Technologies. McCabe was honored in the large-company category for his leadership role in the merger of defense industry leaders Orbital ATK and Northrop Grumman prior to joining BWXT.
